Education
Let’s face it, our notion of art is evolving rapidly and the tools to create art are becoming more and more powerful. Our Creative Technology Studies (CTS) program is designed for those interested in learning the skills necessary to code, hack, and solder their dreams together. We continually adapt our class offerings to remain consistent with developments in the field, often among the first institutions to provide training in the latest open-source technology.
Research
Gray Area Research is our framework for innovation and experimentation. True to our name, our program explores the increasingly gray areas between art, technology, and social issues. We support projects that exist on the cutting edge of today’s technological spectrum, taking advantage of the newest digital and physical tools available to push boundaries in creating social and artistic value.
Seaquence
Seaquence is a living, growing ecosystem of musical lifeforms that anyone can explore, see and hear. Each Seaquence above represents a donation that directly supports GAFFTA. Each time you contribute $2 or more, you help make our community stronger both digitally and physically. Your contribution goes directly to the support of the project and the organization as a whole.
Creative Currency
In collaboration with Hub Bay Area, American Express, and The San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Civic Innovation, Creative Currency is our latest Research Initiative, aiming to envision, prototype, and deploy innovative solutions that address systems of exchange in underserved communities. The initiative will join leading developers and designers with experts in social finance, local currencies, crowdfunding, sharing platforms, job resources, and the new economy to rapidly develop tools to address critical needs in San Francisco’s Mid-Market/Tenderloin community.
