The Gray Area Studio provides artists, designers, educators, social entrepreneurs, collaborators, and collectives a space to spark and develop ideas, projects, works, models, and more that exemplify our principles of openness, collaboration, and resource sharing. The Gray Area community fosters an ethically driven network of people working to inspire and spread creative growth, technical knowledge, experimentation, and social consciousness.

Gray Area Studio initiatives and projects have a myriad of manifestations including forms of artwork, technology experiments, social innovation, visualizations, sonifications, computer software, design, and more. Open source, open content and open distribution models are ideals that GAFFTA actively pursues and encourages. Those co-working in the studio explore, learn, create, and return their process and efforts back into the community.
