GAFFTA is currently seeking volunteers and interns!

Our internship and volunteer opportunities are offered openly to the public to provide the opportunity to become an active participant of the diverse and growing community working with GAFFTA. As an intern or volunteer, you play a vital role in our collective efforts towards realizing our mission.

Volunteer Requirements

Genuine desire to engage in and support GAFFTA programs, initiatives, activities, and community.
Ability to think creatively, work independently, set priorities, follow through, and meet deadlines.
Willingness to assist where ever help is needed, and communicate your availability on a regular basis.

Internship Requirements

Genuine desire to engage in and support GAFFTA programs, initiatives, activities, and community.
Ability to think creatively, work independently, set priorities, follow through, and meet deadlines.
Minimum commitment of 96 hours spread over at least 3 months.
Internships are unpaid, but where applicable we will work with educational institutions to provide academic credit for your work.

Current opportunities-

General Office & Reception Volunteers/Interns

    Requirements:
  • General office & people skills.
  • Availability during the work day.

    Responsibilities:
  • Greeting guests, preparing mailings, light office maintenance, etc.

PR, and Marketing Volunteers/Interns

    Requirements:
  • Be genuinely interested and motivated to champion GAFFTA programs and initiatives, while working with the team on promotion, pr, and marketing.
  • Have a relatively flexible schedule and ability to commit to at least a three-month span, minimum 3 hours per week as a volunteer, 6 hours per week for interns.
  • Computer literacy, experience with social media, and previous experience and knowledge of media outlets are a big plus.

    Responsibilities:
  • Assist with event listings, all media outreach, event & program website postings.

Development Volunteers/Interns

    Requirements:
  • Be genuinely interested and motivated to champion GAFFTA programs and initiatives, while working with the team on various fundraising,sponsorship, and grant opportunities.
  • Have a relatively flexible schedule and ability to commit to at least a three-month span, minimum 3 hours per week as a volunteer, 6 hours per week for interns.
  • Previous fundraising experience and knowledge of grant opportunities are a big plus.

    Responsibilities:
  • Assist with sponsorship and grant research
  • Assist with grant writing, and development sponsorship packages

Installation & Production Volunteers/Interns

    Requirements:
  • Prior experience, or dedication to increasing relevant knowledge and learning applicable skills.
  • Ability to respond to high pressure conditions with positivity and calmness.

    Responsibilities:
  • Assist with installation and de-installation of exhibitions, including basic facility maintenance.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of A/V equipment for events
  • Be generally available to assist with events, including exhibition openings, symposia, performances, and fundraisers
