Urban Data Challenge Awards Ceremony and Brunch

The wait is over! The winners of the two-month Urban Data Challenge competition are announced by the esteemed, international jury, and the awards for the best data visualization projects are handed out. See what programmers, artists, and data scientists from around the world created with public transportation data from Geneva, Zurich, and San Francisco.

Celebrate with us and hear jurors’ reasons for selecting the prize-winner. At stake are two sets of round-trip tickets for two to Zurich, San Francisco, or Geneva; funding from Fusepool, the European Datapool, for developing the project into an app; three $300 cash prizes; and the chance to have the data visualization exhibited globally.

The Urban Data Challenge proves the power of Open Governmental Data. The collaboration between creatives and representatives from the cities of Geneva, Zurich, and San Francisco allowed both sides to exchange and learn from each other. This is only the beginning. We are excited to work with these cities going forward and follow the insights, actions, and implementation stemming from open data and the data visualization challenge to improve urban transportation.
